Helping Kids Thrive Through Play Therapy in Littleton and Surrounding Communities

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to explore my website. I’ve worked exclusively with children, teens, and their families in the mental health field for the past thirteen years.

After moving from Iowa to obtain my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver, I began my career in community mental health and worked for many years as a school-based therapist in elementary, middle, and high schools in Adams County.

I transitioned to working for an outpatient agency in Lakewood during the Covid pandemic, and spent two years providing virtual therapy to children and teens across Colorado. During this challenging time, I decided to pursue additional training and certification in Synergetic Play Therapy and it has been one of the best investments I have made in my career. I have seen time after time how this therapy modality supports children in playfully processing their challenges and connecting to their authentic selves.

In the several years I’ve been in private practice at Play Therapy Connection in Littleton, I’ve had the honor of supporting many children and families through difficult life stages and circumstances. I believe with the right support, our most challenging experiences can transform us into our most resilient selves.

I am continuously inspired by children’s innate ability to heal and grow through their play, and by parents who show up relentlessly for their kids.

Outside the play room, you can find me spending time with loved ones, going on various outdoor adventures, listening to music and podcasts, and reading a good book.

Therapy is a co-creative process between therapist and client. In other words, I am not “doing something” to you/your child, I am “being with” you as you move through your child’s healing process. Your perspective and wisdom as the parent of your child is just as important as mine as the therapist.

Over the years I have come to recognize some of the characteristics of clients who will likely enjoy working with me.

  • You are interested in understanding and approaching your child’s struggles from a nervous system lens, not simply a behavior-based framework (i.e. using rewards and consequences to manage behavior)

  • You are intrigued or enthusiastic about a play-based therapeutic approach to support your child

  • You are open to the idea that your child can work through difficulties without necessarily having to talk about them in therapy

  • You believe that your relationship with your child is paramount in supporting their growth

  • You are looking for a process that supports your child in deeply integrating their challenges, not just a quick fix for difficult behaviors and emotions

If the above resonates with you, please contact me today to learn more about how I can help your child and family!
